Short Stories - A wooden block

A city man went to visit a forest with the help of a jungle man. They crossed a river with the help of a wooden block.

The jungle man kept his knife on the wooden block by stabbing it. Suddenly they find a red colour liquid like thing coming out from the wood. The jungle man suddenly shouted something in his language and jumped into the water and swam across the river. The city man too suddenly decided to jump into the river and followed the jungle man. They both reached the other end of the river safely. The city man asked him "what happened ?". The jungle man explained that it was a type of snake which would float in water and look like wood. The red colour liquid was its blood. The jungle appreciated the city man's prompt reaction in that situation.

Moral: When you are in a new place, behave like people of that place.
